Security Specialist Superbadge

In this blog post I will give some tips and tricks to help you with the Security Specialist Superbadge. You will not find a complete worked out answer, as the reason for the Superbadge is to test your skills. But like me, you might find it useful to have some tips to check on what you are doing and if you are on the right path.

To start the superbadge, you have to create a clean new org and install the package. If you struggle with installing the package, check my post here.

So let’s look at the different challenge you have to work through:

1. Set object-level security settings

Check the instructions carefully. You only will need to work on the profile settings here, you do not need to do any sharing rules, hierarchy etc. Clone an existing profile and change all the settings according to the instructions.

2. Set record-level security settings

There are a couple of steps to go here:

  • set up all 4 roles in the correct hierarchy as per image in the instructions
  • create sharing rules – you will need one on the account and two on the opportunity

This is probably the only question where you should have any problems with passing. It took me several goes to work this out. Take your time working through the different sharing rules.

3. Quiz on Set appropriate password policies

I will not give you the answers, just 3 questions about passwords.

4. Track field-level changes

Again follow the instructions in the system & data security requirements . It is in there, just read carefully. You will have to go through the text a couple of times to make sure you find all requirements.

5. Set report, dashboard, and public list view security settings

If you have done all the setup in the profiles, you don’t need to do anything here. You can just check the challenge. If you have not done all the set up in the profile, you will need to double check your settings. Tip here: check those system permissions!

6. Set up two-factor authentication

Not too complicated here. You will need to create a permission set for the authentication and assign it. Again, those system permissions are handy!

7. Track changes to Salesforce Settings – Quiz

I will not give you the answers, just 4 questions about passwords

And that is it!

I found this one of the more straightforward superbadges to do, once you get passed the 2nd challenge.
