Admin Keynote at Dreamforce 2022

The last day at Dreamforce always has the most anticipated keynote of the year. In a fast pace half hour session Administrators get to see new solution after new solution. In a combination of presenting and live demos we get to see how we can wow our customers next.

This year was no different then other years, and in this post I will go through those changes that I think will make the most impact for Salesforce Administrators

Dynamic Forms

We have already been playing around with dynamic forms for a while, but only on Custom objects. But now they will be coming to Standard objects too! It will launch in Winter ’23 for accounts, contacts and opportunities but will grow steadily from there. Much easier then have a gazillion page layouts

User & Admin Assistant

Are you struggling with the Access Model, wondering who has or needs what kind of access to objects, records and fields? Well, Salesforce has now created two tools functionalities that are really going to help

First of all Permission Sets in Field Creation. From Winter ’23 once you have enabled the functionality, when you are going to your Field Level Security in a field, you wil, get to see Permission Sets instead of Profiles. As you (might) know, Salesforce has been talking for a while now about moving from Profiles to Permission Set and this is really going to help further support that transition

Second, it is sometimes difficult to track your permissions sets, which user has what, how the permissions sets are connected etc. For that Salesforce as developed a tool you can get, for free!, from the AppExchange. It’s called User Access and Permissions Assistant. You can do all your “normal” stuff like seeing who does what. But also amazing stuff like changing a profile to a permission set and very accessible reporting. Search for it on the AppExchange and install. Of course Sandbox first to test fully!

DevOps Centre

Say goodbye to changes sets and hello DevOps Centre. Formerly a heavily used tool by Developers, now as Administrators we are going to use this too. Changes are tracked automatically as you make them as long as you have tracking enabled in your sandbox. You get access to an easy UI to see what has happened. You select the items you want to migrate from Sandbox to Production. You pull the changes, select the changes, commit the changes and it is migrated.

Sounds simple right! Well, we have to get our hands on it so check the release notes or dive into Trailhead to find moduls related to this.

New Skill Set Series

You might have seen earlier in 2022 a series on Admin Skills for Success. As part of that I wrote a blog on The Importance of Attention to Detail. Salesforce has noticed the great success of this series and next year will expand on it. Watch out for a Video Series, a Skills Advisory Board and an Enablement Kit.

You want more?

There was much more introduced during Dreamforce. Amongst them Salesforce Genie – Turn your data into real-time customer magic, lots of buzz and changes around Flows and many more.

For me these couple of launches mentioned above are real gamechangers for admins and hence highlighted. If you have the time, go to Salesforce+ to see what more you missed.

I can’t wait to start playing around with these new functionalities. Let me know your thoughts and take aways from Dreamforce ’22

Hopefully we can all meet there next year!
