As most people do towards the end of the year, we look back and reflect. In this post I want to focus specifically on the Trailhead Mentorship Program.
As lookdown kept being extended over the summer months and work slowly became less, I decided it was time to see what other options there were to engage more in the community. I decided to join the Trailhead Mentorship Program as a mentor.
Since summer I have been mentoring a range of mentees from different backgrounds and skill sets. With some it became really hands on training on admin functionalities. For others I became more a sounding board for things they were working on but wanted a second opinion. But with all, regular video calls meant accountability and set time to see each other.
It has been an absolutely fantastic experience. Not just about sharing knowledge. As due to lockdown it is hard to meet people, it has been a great way to get to know new people. Whilst the key focus was me sharing my knowledge to help my mentees, it has also helped me. In keeping knowledge up to date, at moments challenged by questions and by confirming that I know what I know well.
For 2021 I am going to continue with the program and keep working with more mentees. For anyone who is looking for guidance or for anyone wanting to share their knowledge and help others, I definitely recommend signing up to the program. Although it starts out as a month commitment, I have found that will all mentees I now have a long term relationship.
